Miss Samantha Lewin

My name is Samantha Lewin, and I am the new music teacher at the Shore Center. A little about my background. I grew up in the Chicago northern suburbs, where I was involved in Chorus, Musicals, and Theater. I then studied at the Hartt School of Music, in West Hartford Connecticut, under the mentorship of John Feierabend, who created a curriculum that is taught all over the east coast and very well known in the music community. His phrase and philosophy is “Tuneful, Beatful, Artful”. Tuneful: To sing on pitch, Beatful” to exhibit a sense of steady beat, and Artful: To exhibit expression in everything as well as creativity.

Voice is my main instrument. I am truly passionate about singing, and connecting with children through voice. I also have had many experiences working with students with special needs, starting from when I was a freshman in high school. After I graduated college, I spent the past two years, teaching general music, and students with special needs in Fairfax, Virginia. I am truly delighted to be able to have the opportunity now, to be involved in The Shore Center, and this setting with students of this population.

Now that I have moved to New Jersey, I am looking forward to starting this new journey with your students to explore their voices, instrument skills and expression. Please look on this page for other documents, permission slips, videos of performances, and any other links that will be helpful for this years music curriculum.
