• Hello!

I am Colin Parsons, the Health and Physical Education teacher here at The Shore Center for Students with Autism. I went to West Chester University to receive my Bachelors in Health Sciences with an Adapted PE Minor. After graduating I landed myself here at The Shore Center where I have loved it ever since! During my physical education classes I work on student's individual successes through goal-oriented progress and practice. Through engaging and goal-oriented activities, the students at the Shore Center become actively aware of what it takes to "be active" through sport and exercise. All activities are group oriented and are adapted/modified depending on the students joining my lessons.

Health education is also provided at our school with the use of our new "Healthy Relationships and Autism, A Guide Into Adulthood". This curriculum breaks down three main topics, which are hygiene, human development, and relationships. All parents/ students that are part of The Shore Center get a login/password to their website. On the website there are many informative videos that can be accessed through this portal. Here is the website if you did not recieve a portal email from the HRC website. myhrc.life/shorecenter/wp-login.php?checkmail=confirm. If you need another login, please email me and I will reset your login information.

During my time at the Shore Center I have been head coordinator of the Family Picnic event held in October. This time involves families of the Shore Center coming together to enjoy family fun (bounce houses, face painters, clowns, magician, music, complimentary picnic food, ice cream station, and popcorn station). I also am the head coordinator of Field Day that happens the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. During this time students show off what they have learned throughout the year in Physical Education.
