Mrs. Carlee Janes
Hello! My name is Carlee Janes, and I am so excited to be back at The Shore Center for my 8th year and my 13th year teaching! I have been an adaptive music teacher for my entire career, graduating from Rutgers with degrees in Music Education and Music Performance (on classical flute). I then received my Master’s from TCNJ in Special Education and Elementary Education.
In the classroom, I am incredibly dedicated to making sure that my music class is accessible to every single type of learner. I make sure that each lesson can meet each student where they are that day. To do so, I utilize many adaptive techniques such as adaptive instruments and teaching methods, as well as adapting the general music curriculum to fit our school’s needs. I also work to include all students regardless of communication methods, whether a student is verbal or using an AAC device entirely, they will be included and appreciated in my music class.
Every year, we have a Holiday show in December and an end-of-year show in May! During these students get to perform with their classes, and it is my absolute favorite time of year!
