By Design Social Skills LLC By Design Social Skills offers a variety of programs to enhance children's social skills and build self-esteem. We serve children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder, and Attention Deficit Disorders, as well as those without diagnoses who may benefit from assistance in relating to their peers. We work with children ages three to nineteen in areas including social language, conversation and friendship skills , etiquette, eye contact, direction following, attending skills, game play skills, and self-esteem. All of our programs incorporate data collection and analysis, which allows us to track a child's progress and ensure skill mastery. We work alongside families to make certain that children are able to generalize the social skills they are taught in the home, school, and community settings. We believe that learning is enhanced through individual attention and have a minimum 3:1 child/therapist ration in all of our programs. Our Special Place Our Special Place is located at 62 Broad Street in Matawan, NJ, 07747 They are a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children with special needs. The focus of Our Special Place is to improve peer to peer interaction, building functional communication skills, reducing challenging behaviors and teaching socially appropriate responses. Instructional methods are evidence based and derived from the field of applied behavior analysis. Social skills groups are taught utilizing behavior skills training (BST), which includes instruction, modeling, role play, and feedback. Generalization of these skills are encouraged through a variety of extra curricular activities.
